The fifth grade math curriculum is challenging and rigorous! We will learn math through interactive lessons, hands-on activities, projects, and readings.
Our major topics of study in the 5th grade are: multi-digit whole number operations, addition and subtraction using equivalent fractions, fraction multiplication and division, place value, decimal operations to the hundredths, volume of rectangular prisms, converting within measurement systems, numerical patterns and expressions, graphing on coordinate plane, and classification of 2D figures.
In addition to the 5th grade curriculum, advanced math classes study the following 6th grade topics: standard algorithm whole number division, standard algorithm decimal operations (+,-,x,/), fraction division (fraction by fraction), volume of rectangular prisms with fractional edge lengths, area of triangles, quadrilaterals and polygons, nets and surface area, 4-quadrant graphing, and measurement conversions using ratio concepts.
